A baked ham and swiss crescent roll ring.

Nearly 20 years ago, I discovered the delicious Dainty Ham & Swiss Slider. If you aren’t familiar with them, they are King’s Hawaiian sliders filled with ham and swiss cheese, topped with a buttery topping and baked in the oven.

To my great surprise on a recent grocery store trip, I discovered Pillsbury made a sweet Hawaiian Crescent dough (INSERT AFFILIATE LINK)! I immediately had the lightbulb moment of turning those amazing sliders into a sandwich ring!

    Expert Tips and Substitutions

    • If your deli ham has moisture on the outside, dry with a paper towel first. Added moisture can make the crescent roll dough soggy.
    • If you don't have a pizza pan or round stone, you can make the ring in an oval shape on a large sheet pan.
    • If you don’t like Swiss cheese, substitute with nearly any sliced cheese variety. Cheddar, mozzarella, American, or Monterey Jack cheeses all work great.
    • This recipe can be halved if desired. Simply create a smaller sun shape with 1 can of dough and halve the remaining ingredients.
    • If served as a main entree, this ring is perfect paired with a side salad, raw vegetables and dip, steamed/sautéed/roasted vegetables or soup.

What to Serve with Crescent Ham and Cheese Ring

The best part about a crescent roll recipe is that is can be served as an appetizer or main course. I often like to serve it with a salad like a broccoli cranberry salad, maple dijon salad, or a house salad.

A soup is also a great option to serve with Hawaiian crescent rolls. My crockpot gnocchi soup is so comforting and my Italian sausage tortellini soup has so much flavor.

    Storage

    • For the Refrigerator: Store completely cooled leftovers it in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, you can place individual slices or the entire ring in the oven or air fryer at a low temperature until warmed through.
    • For the Freezer: Freeze in a freezer-safe, air-tight container and freeze up to 3 months. Let it thaw in the refrigerator, then reheat it in the microwave or oven. Keep in mind this will compromise the flakiness of the dough.

Do you know what size pizza pan you have? I don't own a pizza pan and would love to try this on a pizza pan. I looked around and there are a lot of different sizes. Thank you Laura.
