Amazing Pulled Pork

This Amazing Pulled Pork is fall-off-the-bone tender and full of flavor! Smoked or grilled pulled pork is delicious, but you can get the same tender, juicy results right from your oven! Along with Alabama Barbecue Sauce & Coleslaw…it’s the makings of a perfect pulled pork sandwich!

Ingredients
 

Pork

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 4-5 lb bone-in pork butt or shoulder

Alabama Heat Sauce

  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp horseraddish
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp creole mustard
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne

Coleslaw

  • 1 cabbage head shredded
  • 1/2 red cabbage head shredded
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 green onions thinly sliced
  • 1 lime juiced
  • 1 jalapeño seeded and finely diced
  • 1 tsp celery salt
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar or sugar substitute

Instructions

  • Mix together rub ingredients until well blended. Coat pork butt with rub on all sides evenly. Place pork on a large rimmed, foil lined baking sheet. Place pan in 250ºF non-convection oven. Bake until it reaches an internal temperature of 195-200ºF. This should take about 10-12 hours. Just before serving, shred with forks or meat shredders.
  • For the sauce, mix all ingredients until well blended.
  • For the coleslaw, mix all ingredients until well blended.

  1. Can I substitute a pork loin instead of using pork butt, and still cook it at the same temp for the same amount of time? The seasonings for this sound so delicious!

    1. Thank you SO MUCH!! Leaner pork lends a tougher texture, but you can make that substitute and adjust the time.
