How to make Philly Cheesesteak Sliders
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 13×9-inch baking dish.
- For the butter sauce, in a small bowl, mix melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce.

- Transfer 2 tablespoons of the butter sauce mixture to a separate small bowl and whisk with beef broth. Set both mixtures aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper. Cook 6–8 minutes until very soft and lightly caramelized. Season with salt and pepper.

- Pour the beef broth mixture into the skillet. Bring a boil. Add the shaved beef. Cook just 1 minute, breaking it up with a spatula until heated. Season with salt and pepper.

- Slice rolls in half horizontally (keep connected). Place bottom half in the prepared baking dish. Layer: half the provolone, the beef and veggie mixture, the remaining provolone, and top buns.

- Brush the butter mixture on top. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

- Cover loosely with foil and bake 15 minutes. Uncover and bake another 5–8 minutes or until tops are golden and cheese is fully melted.
- Let rest 5 minutes, then slice and serve warm.

Expert Tips
- Ask for extra thin shaved beef at the store. This is key to a classic Philly Cheesesteak. I like to moisten the beef with some broth in a skillet for extra rich flavor.
- Cover with foil the first half of baking then uncover. This helps the cheese to melt evenly and then by uncovering you can also toast the buns perfectly!
- Make sure you keep the Hawaiian rolls connected when slicing. That’s the key to these sliders, you want to make sure the rolls stay intact to hold all of the fillings!
- Make the peppers and onions in advance for meal prep. You can easily saute those earlier and also make the beef too. Assemble the sandwich and hold in the fridge until you are ready to serve!
Storage
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes until warmed through.
These Philly Cheesesteak Sliders on Hawaiian rolls don’t freeze well. We recommend enjoying them fresh for the best flavors and textures.
