Cooked low and slow, these barbecue country style ribs are rich, fall-apart tender and delicious!
Boneless country style ribs don’t actually come from the ribs, but the meat has a flavor and texture and similar to St. Louis or baby back ribs. They’re often cut from the pork shoulder the blade end near the shoulder. The fat that is marbled throughout the rib makes them extra moist and tender. I love cooking these ribs because they are versatile, budget-friendly and delicious! Slow-cooking is ideal so they achieve optimal tenderness.
What You’ll Need
- Boneless Country Style Pork Ribs
- Pork Seasoning (I used Gabrick BBQ Pork Rub Seasoning)
- Barbecue Sauce (I used Gabrick BBQ Candy Jalapeno)
Tools You’ll Need
How to Make This Recipe
- You’ll want to line your sheet pan with foil first for easier clean-up. While the oven preheats to 300°F, season the ribs on all sides. Cover the pan tightly with foil, ensuring the steam won’t escape. This is important for the ribs tenderness and doneness. Place in the oven for 2 hours.
- Check the ribs for tenderness with a fork. If they don’t pull-apart easily, re-cover with the foil and bake an additional 30 minutes.
- The ribs will produce a lot of liquid, so carefully tilt one of the sheet pan corners into a bowl, draining the pan of the liquids.
- Brush the ribs on all sides with barbecue sauce and return to the oven at 275°F. Bake an additional 45 minutes to an hour or until the ribs are tender and caramelized.
- Remove from oven, transfer to a serving dish, and brush and serve with additional barbecue sauce and your favorite sides.
Tips and Substitutions
- You can also make these in a Crockpot.
- Pour ¾ cup barbecue sauce on the bottom of the Crockpot. Add the seasoned ribs on top, then pour an additional ¾ cup barbecue sauce on top.
- Cook on low for 8-10 hours. I prefer to cook these on low as they are more tender, but you can cook on high for 5-6 hours if you’d like.
- If you like the caramelized, slightly crisp exterior, transfer the ribs to a foil-lined sheet pan. Brush with barbecue sauce, and broil in the oven 5-10 minutes or until the edges begin to brown.
