    • Crescent Rolls: The flaky, buttery crescent dough exterior forms the perfect, golden base to hold all the delicious fillings together. I recommend using Pillsbury brand if possible.
    • Mozzarella Cheese Sticks: Melted mozzarella brings gooey, cheesy goodness to each bite.
    • Pizza Meat (Pepperoni, Salami, Prosciutto): These savory meats add flavor and heartiness to the rolls. Slices of pepperoni are our family favorite!
    • Butter: Brushed on top before baking, it adds richness and helps achieve a golden, crispy finish.
    • Garlic: Adds a burst of flavor that enhances the overall taste of the dish.
    • Italian Seasoning: A delicious blend of herbs that contributes the classic Italian pizza flavor.
    • Crescent Roll Dippers: Use your favorite pizza sauce to dip these rolls in. Pizza sauce, Alfredo sauce, garlic butter, marinara sauce, or ranch are great options!

    Pro Tips and Substitutions

    • Preparation Option: If you prefer the meat and cheese enclosed instead of exposed, press or roll the dough to an ⅛th inch thickness, add the filling, roll, and enclose by pressing the ends of the dough together.
    • Add Veggies: If you like, add finely chopped bell peppers, onions, or black olives to the filling for extra flavor and nutrition.
    • Cheese: Swap mozzarella sticks for other cheeses like provolone or cheddar cheese for a different taste. You can also use mozzarella shredded cheese. You can also top the rolls with shredded or grated parmesan cheese before or after baking.
    • Make Ahead: You can prepare the rolls ahead of time, refrigerate them, and bake them just before serving!
    • Meat Options: Use vegetarian pepperoni or omit completely for a meatless version. Turkey pepperoni, cooked Italian sausage, or ground beef is another meat option.
    • Dough Options: Store-bought dough is a shortcut, yummy ingredient. Substitute crescent rolls with pizza dough or puff pastry for a different texture. You can also make crescent rolls from scratch!
    • Herb Variations: If you don’t have Italian seasoning, a mix of oregano, basil, and thyme works well too.
    • Low-Fat Alternatives: You can use low-fat cheese or leaner meats as substitutes. Just keep in mind that this will affect the texture and flavor slightly.

    Storage

Store any leftover pizza stuffed crescent rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. To reheat, simply pop in the microwave about 1 minute or just until warmed.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my crescent roll dough doughy?

While it might be tempting to pile on extra delicious fillings, it's best to resist that urge. Overloading them can lead to uneven baking, resulting in doughy centers and fillings spilling out onto the baking sheet. For optimal results, stick to the ingredient amounts specified in the recipe. Also bake at the correct temperature at the time specified.

What fillings can I use for pizza crescent rolls?

You can customize your pizza crescent rolls with various fillings such as vegetables (like bell peppers and mushrooms), different cheeses (like provolone or cheddar), or other types of meats (like ham or cooked sausage).

Can I make pizza crescent rolls ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the rolls ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to bake. Just be sure to cover them tightly with plastic wrap to prevent drying out.

What can I serve with pizza crescent rolls?

These rolls are great with dipping sauces like marinara, garlic butter, ranch dressing, or even pesto for a tasty twist.

How do I know when crescent pizza rolls are done baking?

The rolls are ready when they are golden brown on the outside and the dough is fully cooked. You can check the bottom of one of the rolls to ensure it is also browned and cooked through.
