    Glazed Brussels Sprouts

    Crisp, caramelized and lightly sweet, these Glazed Brussels Sprouts are the perfect side dish or appetizer!

    A lot of folks scowl at the mention of Brussels Sprouts. They’ll say “I was made to eat those when I was little” or “eww, they’re so bitter!” These are likely to change their mind! Brussels Sprouts have have had quite the resurgence over the past few years with the addition of glazes, sauces, bacon and roasting them in the oven or cooking them in the air fryer! These will make anyone a Brussels Sprouts believer!

    How to Make This Recipe

    1. This recipe is easy and quick to assemble! Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
    2. Toss the Brussels Sprouts, seasoning and oil in a bowl or directly on the prepared sheet pan and spread the sprouts in an even layer for even roasting.
    1. Bake 20 minutes. Remove from the oven, toss with the glaze and bacon, if using. Spread evenly and bake another 10 minutes.
    2. Broil 1-2 minutes for extra crispiness. If doing so, watch carefully to avoid burning.
    3. Transfer to a serving dish. Drizzle with honey.

    Tips and Substitutions

    • I used Fischer and Weiser Texas Whiskey Glaze bought from my local HEB grocery store. Any of their glazes work great on these sprouts! Costco periodically carries their Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Chipotle Sauce flavor. If you don’t have this brand available, you can also use:
      • Kung Pao Sauce
      • Balsamic Glaze
      • Honey and Balsamic Glaze Combined
      • Sweet Soy Glaze
    • All-purpose seasoning salt is a versatile seasoning salt with a blend of salt, pepper and spices. There are several brands on the market, but these are great with just salt and black pepper too.
    • These can also be made in the air fryer at the same time and temp or to desired crispiness.

    Storage

    • Store leftovers in an air-tight container in the refrigerator up to 3-4 days.
    • While I don’t recommend freezing roasted Brussels sprouts, you can freeze them in a freezer-safe container and store 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • How do I reheat leftover Brussels sprouts?
      • You can reheat them in the oven or microwave. To use the oven, preheat it to 350°F and spread the Brussels sprouts on a baking sheet. Heat for about 5-10 minutes until warmed through. In the microwave, use short bursts of 30 seconds, stirring in between, until they're heated to your liking.
    • Can I add other seasonings besides oil and salt?
      • Absolutely! Try adding garlic, balsamic vinegar, parmesan cheese, or even a touch of maple syrup for added flavor.
    • How do I prevent Brussels sprouts from getting too dry?
      • Make sure not to overcook them. Keep an eye on their color and texture, and remove them from the oven when they're nicely browned but still tender inside.
    • My sprouts weren’t crispy throughout. What can I do to fix this?
      • Make sure your Brussels sprouts are dry before tossing with the oil and seasoning. Also, you can adjust the temperature higher to 375-425°F and adjust the time accordingly. Watch the sprouts carefully as they can burn quickly.

    Candied Brussels Sprouts

    Ingredients
     

    • 1 pound Brussels Sprouts washed and halved
    • 3 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon all-purpose seasoning salt
    • ¼ cup glaze Fischer and Weiser or Kung Pao Sauce
    • ¼ cup Cooked and Crumbled Bacon
    • 1-2 tablespoons honey or hot honey

    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 350°F. 
    • Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil. In a bowl or on the prepared sheet pan, toss together the sprouts, oil and seasoning. Bake 20 minutes. 
    • Remove from the oven, toss the sprouts with the glaze and bacon, if using. Return to the oven for 10 minutes. 
    • Broil 1-2 minutes for extra crispiness. If doing so, watch carefully to avoid burning.
    • Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with hot honey.
