Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Pecan Layer

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dippers

  • Optional Dippers: shortbread cookies, apple slices, graham crackers, pretzel thins

Instructions

  • In a medium mixing bowl with a hand mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Mix in maple syrup until blended.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat together heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture just until incorporated.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture in a serving dish, and refrigerate.
  • In a saucepan, combine brown sugar and heavy whipping cream. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a gentle boil. Cook, uncovered, for 4 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and stir in pecans and vanilla extract. Let it rest 15 minutes.
  • Remove the cream cheese topping from the refrigerator. Pour the topping over the cream cheese mixture and spread nearly to the edges. Chill until ready to serve. Serve with a spreader utensil and your favorite dippers.

Notes

Storage:
Store the dip in the fridge for up to 3 days. We don't recommend freezing the dip as it will change the texture.
It's a great recipe to make in advance since it needs to chill before serving.
Tips:
Soften your cream cheese for easy beating. This is key to combining the base mixture smoothly and evenly for the best taste and texture.
Make sure the sauce rests for 15 minutes after boiling. As the sauce cools, it will set and also not melt the cream cheese mixture underneath.
Chill the pecan pie dip correctly before serving. You want it to chill for the right texture and flavor in every bite.
Beat the heavy cream to stiff peaks for the cream cheese layer for a light and fluffy dip. Stiff peaks means that the whipped cream is able to stand on its own when you remove the beaters.
