- 2 11 ounce packages Pillsbury French Bread Dough loaves
- 1 egg white
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Italian Sandwich: pepperoni, salami, ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, olives
- Club Sandwich: ham, turkey, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Place dough, seams side down, on a buttered or non-stick sprayed round pizza pan or stone. Pinch the seams together so that the 2 loaves create a circle.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg white and garlic. Brush a thin layer on the top and sides of the dough.
Sprinkle evenly with Italian seasoning and salt. Cut 1/2” deep diagonal slashes on top of dough.
Bake 25-30 minutes or until deep golden brown. Remove from the oven and immediately run a knife along the bottom of the dough to prevent sticking.
Cool completely. Slice the bread in half horizontally. Dress with your favorite sandwich toppings.
Tips and Variations
- Bakeware: If you don't have a round pan or stone, you can use a 12-cup fluted tube cake pan. Spray with cooking spray. Place both bread loaves in the pan in a circle. Pinch ends together. Bake 34-38 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly, then transfer the bread to a cooling rack. You can also bake it on a sheet pan in one long subway bread loaf.
- Bread Seasoning Options: Besides the garlic egg wash and Italian seasoning, these are some yummy seasonings you can opt to add or substitute on your bread loaves: garlic powder, parmesan cheese, rosemary, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, every bagel seasoning, cheddar cheese, onion flakes, dried basil, dried dill, coarse salt, pumpkin seeds
- Golden Bread Crust: You can also achieve a beautiful golden crust by brushing the bread with melted butter, olive oil, or milk instead of an egg wash.
