Cake Batter Sprinkle Dip

Ingredients
 

  • cup dry cake batter mix flavor as desired
  • 4 oz regular or ⅓-less fat cream cheese softened
  • 4-5 oz vanilla skyr or Greek yogurt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 oz whipped topping thawed
  • ¼ cup sprinkles plus more for topping
  • Dippers: Annie's Bunny Grahams, sliced green apple, green and red grapes

Instructions

  • It's recommended by the CDC to spread the raw cake mix out on a baking sheet pan in an even layer and bake at 350°F for 5 minutes. Allow it to cool completely.
  • In a large mixing bowl, blend together the cake mix, cream cheese, yogurt, and vanilla extract with an electric mixer or spatula until smooth. 
  • Fold in the whipped topping and the sprinkles until well combined. 
  • Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle additional sprinkles on top. The dye in sprinkles can sometimes bleed, so it's best to add the sprinkles on top right before serving.
  • Add the dip to a platter with all your favorite dippers!

Expert Tips and Substitutions

  • Yogurt: Skyr is strained whole milk yogurt. Siggi’s is the brand I prefer because I like its balance of tartness and sweetness. Any regular or low-fat vanilla Greek yogurt or regular vanilla yogurt can work in this dip. It will slightly change the texture and the level of sweetness
  • Dip Pairings: Get creative with dippers! Here are my go-to accouterments:
    • Fresh Fruit (berries, grapes, apples, bananas, peaches)
    • Teddy Grahams or Annie's Cookies
    • Honey Graham Crackers
    • Chocolate Graham Crackers
    • Animal Crackers
    • Vanilla Wafer Cookies
    • Funfetti Cookies
    • Spread the dip on pancakes, waffles, or toast
