Sandwich Ingredients
- 13 ounce Baguette or Sub Rolls
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- salt and black pepper amount as desired
- 4-6 ounces shredded or sliced mozzarella
- 8-10 leftover Beef and Sausage Meatballs see recipe
Preheat oven to broil.
If your meatballs are cold from the refrigerator, warm them up in the microwave or on the stove until heated through.
To creat a base for the sandwich, cut sub rolls or baguette lengthwise and hull out some of the internal bread fluff. Drizzle or brush with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. If you're in the mood for a garlic twist, mix fresh garlic with the olive oil first. Broil 1-2 minutes, watching carefully as it can burn quickly.
Place Mozzarella cheese slices on both sides of the bread. Top one side of the bread with the warmed meatballs. Spoon the sauce generously over the meatballs.
Transfer the assembled sandwich to the oven and broil until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden brown.
Slice the sandwich into manageable portions and serve immediately.
