Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp + 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 8 cups milk divided
  • 8 oz dark chocolate bars (70% cacao) chopped
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions

  • To a large saucepan on medium heat, add 7 cups milk. To the reserved cup of milk, whisk in cornstarch until blended well and set aside. When bubbles appear around edge of the pan, whisk in both chocolates, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until blended and smooth. Whisk in cornstarch mixture.
  • Taste a spoonful to see if it’s at your desired sweetness. Bring to a light boil, then reduce to simmer for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and serve or pour in a crockpot set to warm. As it cools, it will continue to thicken. Serve with your hot chocolate topping favorites.
