Steak & Frites

This meal is perfect for any night, but especially a special occasion!

Ingredients

  • 2, 6-8 oz 1 ½” thick steaks, filet or ribeye
  • 1 1/2 tbsp butter, divided
    Steak seasoning
  • 2 garlic cloves, 1 minced & 1 halved
  • 1 large Idaho potato
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp low-fat mayonnaise
  • Salad ingredients, optional

    Preheat oven to 450ºF. Scrub potato and remove blemishes. Cut into ½” wedges, toss with olive oil and arrange on baking sheet. Salt and pepper generously. Bake on lower rack 20 minutes, turn over potatoes and bake 10-15 minutes longer or until golden brown. Meanwhile, stir together mayonnaise and minced garlic and set aside. Pat steaks dry and season well with steak seasoning. Turn cast iron pan on high. Once pan is extremely hot melt ½ tbsp butter. Sear steak 3 minutes on top, 3 minutes on bottom, then 1 minute on each of the 3 sides. Place pan on upper rack of oven for 3-7 minutes, depending on preferred doneness. Return pan to high heat and add butter, halved garlic clove and rosemary. Baste melted butter on steaks for 15 seconds. Plate steaks and allow to rest 5 minutes. Add fries and garlicky mayo. *Note: Serve with a vegetable side dish such as a salad, broccoli, asparagus or green beans.
