Mississippi French Dip Sandwiches

Oh boy! This sandwich will have all the neighbors asking if they can join you for dinner!

Ingredients

  • 2-3lb chuck roast
  • Salt/Pepper
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 10.5oz can Campbell’s French Onion Soup
  • 16 oz jar sliced pepperocini peppers
  • (only 1/2 cup of the juice)
    .87oz au jus packet
  • 1oz packet ranch powder mix (or 2 tbsp)
  • 8oz sliced mushrooms
  • 5 tbsp butter, sliced
  • 4 hoagie buns
  • 4 slices or 4oz provolone cheese
  • Recipe

    Heat oil in a large skillet on high heat. Season roast on both sides with salt and pepper and sear 2-3 minutes on the top and bottom. Transfer to a Crockpot. Swirl water in the hot skillet and add to the Crockpot along with the French onion soup, 1/2 cup of the pepperoncini pepper juice (discarding the rest), the pepperocini peppers, au jus packet, ranch packet and sliced mushrooms. Stir to combine well then place 4 tablespoons of the butter on top. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours. Once the cooking time is complete, remove the roast from the Crockpot, shred, and return to the Crockpot. Preheat the oven to broil. Butter the hoagie buns and place under the broiler until toasted well. Remove from the oven, add your desired amount of meat and peppers to each bun, top with provolone cheese, and return to the oven until the cheese has melted. Serve sandwiches with a bowl of juice from the Crockpot. Happy dipping!
