Low Carb Cheese Stuffed Italian Sausage

Italian flavors, 3 ingredients, 5 minutes prep time, less than $8 for the whole entree, low carb, cheesy goodness…need I say more!

Ingredients

  • 19 oz Italian sausage
  • 5 oz fresh mozzarella
  • 20 oz marinara sauce
  • Recipe

    Preheat the oven to 400°F Making sure the base stays intact, carefully split each sausage with a knife or kitchen shears halfway through, along the side. Lay in a square or small baking pan. Stuff each sausage with 1 oz of cheese and cover/spread evenly with marinara sauce. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the cheese has melted and sausage cooked through. If you’d like to add a carbohydrate with the stuffed sausages, you can use a hot dog bun, hoagie bun, or as seen in the video, a bolillo roll. Split the bread in half, pull out some of the center for the sausage to rest in, and brush with melted butter, garlic butter, or olive oil. Broil for 1-2 minutes on both sides or until toasted.
