Crab Canapes

A canapé is just a fancy French word for a bread base, savory topping, 1-2 bite appetizer. Make the filling ahead of time for a flawless party time assembly.

Ingredients

  • 1 baguette, cut into 18 slices
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz crabmeat, fresh or canned (drained)
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground white pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1-2 dashes Tabasco Sauce

    In a medium bowl, blend together crab meat, mayonnaise, Parmesan, lemon juice, cream cheese, salt, white pepper, Old Bay Seasoning, and Tabasco. Refrigerate until ready to assemble. Place bread slices on a sheet pan, brush with oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake at 375ºF for 4-5 minutes. Spread a tbsp of the mixture on each bread slice, and bake 12-14 minutes, or until the mixture is golden brown. Garnish with Old Bay Seasoning. Serve warm.
